I have lived many years in Muslim countries — in my experience, not even close to 15% of Muslims are radicals.

I’d put it at more like one in thousands. I have met a few radicals but not every day!

But, I suppose it depends how one defines “radical.”

If a “radical” means they want Islam to rule the world, then yes, it’s probably even higher than 15%

But, by that definition, Evangelicals are nearly all “radicals!”

Dr. Brown correctly asserted that anti-Semitism is on the rise. I checked his numbers:

      >> Last year the world saw a “considerable escalation in anti-Semitic manifestations, particularly violent acts against Jews,” constituting a 30-percent increase over 2011, according to a Tel Aviv University study released on Sunday.

      >> There were 686 acts of violence and vandalism last year, including “273 attacks on persons of all ages; in addition, 190 synagogues, cemeteries and monuments were desecrated, and over 200 private and public

However, it’s worth putting this in perspective.

According to the FBI [IN THE USA ALONE:]

      >> In 2010, law enforcement agencies reported 1,470 hate crime offenses based on sexual-orientation bias. Of these offenses:

57.9 percent were classified as anti-male homosexual bias.
27.4 percent were reported as anti-homosexual bias.
11.4 percent were prompted by an anti-female homosexual bias.
1.4 percent were the result of an anti-heterosexual bias.
1.9 percent were classified as anti-bisexual bias.

      PS:

      My sources for the above:
      http://www.jpost.com/Jewish-World/Jewish-News/Study-Global-anti-Semitism-rises-by-30-percent-308991

      http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/hate-crime/2010/narratives/hate-crime-2010-incidents-and-offenses

It should be noted that the FBI actually gives higher numbers for anti-Semitic hate crimes than does Jerusalem post. The FBI would put anti-Jewish violence at about 60% of anti-gay violence.

This proves a point I raised in an earlier discussion — historically, societies that were tolerant of Jews were also tolerant of gays. And societies that were intolerant of gays were also intolerant of Jews.

When Jews identify with conservatism, they do so at their own peril.
