   Dr. Brown,

   I am confused by Matthew 21:16 where Jesus says, “Yes; have you never read, ‘ Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies You have prepared praise for Yourself ’?” which is supposed to be a reference to Psalm 8:2. But this is not how the Psalm actually reads. Psalms 8:2 reads (NASB) “From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength Because of Your adversaries.” Was there some other verse that Jesus was referring to and if not how do we make sense of what appears to be Jesus misquoting a verse? Was Jesus quoting not from the Bible but a from a Jewish tradition?

   Similarly, in Luke 4:17-18, Jesus reads from Isaiah. This reading is supposed to come from Isaiah 61:1, but it appears to be a combined reading from Isaiah 61:1 and Isaiah 42:7, as the passage in Luke includes opening up blind eyes which is not part of Isaiah 61.

   This is Isaiah 61 in the Greek Septuagint

   1πνεῦμα κυρίου ἐπ’ ἐμέ οὗ εἵνεκεν ἔχρισέν με εὐαγγελίσασθαι πτωχοῖς ἀπέσταλκέν με ἰάσασθαι τοὺς συντετριμμένους τῇ καρδίᾳ κηρύξαι αἰχμαλώτοις ἄφεσιν καὶ τυφλοῖς ἀνάβλεψιν (<open eyes)

   This is Luke's Greek Gospel

   Πνεῦμα κυρίου ἐπ' ἐμέ οὗ ἕνεκεν ἔχρισέν με εὐαγγελίζεσθαι πτωχοῖς ἀπέσταλκέν με ἰὰσασθαι τοὺς συντετριμμένους τὴν καρδίαν, κηρύξαι αἰχμαλώτοις ἄφεσιν καὶ τυφλοῖς ἀνάβλεψιν (<open eyes)

   In both the texts they include opening up eyes, both the Septuagint and Luke.

   Hello Dr. Brown,
   I heard your radio broadcast a few days ago and you quoted Leonard Ravenhill on prayer. Do you have those quotes available in print or know where I can get them? They were very good! I am putting together a prayer sheet for 2013 with Scriptures and prayer quotes. I am burdened for my family, friends and our nation and want to prayer faithfully this year to seek God’s will, guidance and movement in the lives of other people. Thanks for a great radio program and God bless you!

   I believe it’s OK for us to give the sum and substance of a verse and say that it’s what the Bible teaches or says. If it’s OK for us to do that, how about the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Word?

   I knew a lot of people who couldn’t speak in tongues. I used to be one myself. But when we all got together and became instructed in lots of scripture about the gifts of the Spirit, being led by a teacher who was able to teach on those things and lead others into speaking in tongues by faith, as we were surrounded by so many who spoke in tonges and were able to encourage each other, nearly everyone who continued in that fellowship received the word they were taught and yes, they too spoke in tongues. Once you receive it, you’ve got it.

   I’ve been in groups of thousands and among those thousands, I trust that well over 90% of them spoke in tongues. It may have been as high as 99%.

   It depends on how many new people were there. I know I’ve been among a group of hundreds where 100% of the people there spoke in tongues.

   Thank you Dr. Brown for your continuous spiritual advise. I Use it and teach it to my family all the time. I believe that youknow our lord and what he wants best for everybody.    You have to be born again to be able to speak in tongues. Many people are nominal Christians and then have difficulty being baptised in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.

   I can only encourage yo to get all that God has for you ! I would never want to be without it !

    It seems to me that by John 16:16, I can get that Jesus went unto the Father at the time of his death on the cross.

    So do Christians go to heaven when they die? Isn’t that where Jesus went when he died?

    And Jesus also said this:

    And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. (John 17:5)

    And so, isn’t the Christian also clothed with Christ upon his departure from this earth?

    And by John 17:5, I take it that the Father would glorify Jesus by his Spirit, which came from the Father himself, along with the glory he had with the Father before the world was, which I take to mean that it was the same Jesus who was chosen by the Father to do this very work and that this was recognized in heaven before the world began. Not only so, but also Jesus was clothed in the glory of the Father before the world was.

    Now I believe that Jesus went unto the Father at the time of his death on the cross, being taken by the Spirit of God unto the Father himself, clothed by that Spirit, and taken into the Father’s glory, from where he once left to come into this world by the same Holy Spirit.

    And are not Christians also clothed by the same Spirit? And will they not also be taken into the presence of Christ at the time of their departure from this earth?
