      Hello Dr. Brown,

I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this show. I wanted to ask you for your take on a couple of scriptures and the relation of them to God’s foreknowledge and freewill.

      Genesis 6:6

The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the Lord said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

This scripture seems to indicate that God changed his mind, because of Noah. It seems to indicate that God had his mind set on wiping the world away, but because of Noah, he decided not to. It seems to me that this scenario wouldn’t quite make sense if God knew everything that was going to happen beforehand.

      Also in Genesis 22:12

“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”

This scripture seems to indicate that God did not know what Abraham was going to do until the actual moment where Abraham made a decision. Wasn’t this the point of “testing” Abraham? Also, in the instances when God tests his people in the bible, isn’t the point of all of it for God to see if someone is faithful by the outcome of the test? God says “now he knows” which would indicate that he didn’t know prior to that actual moment happening?

I am not entirely sure myself on these scriptures. I would love your take on these scriptures. I’m no scholar- but hey – at least I’m trying to stump you right?

      Thanks,

      Stuart

Well I believe God knows the outcome, it’s like reading through a book. God has already written the book with all its twists and turns. Now he simply reads through it and lets things unfold. That’s the way I see it. You have raised some good points though.

I just had to comment on the free will issue because I just dont understand what the problem is,and the elect thing.I know some people throw simplicity out the window when it comes to God’s word. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son.ok scripture did say the world and not a elect few, now and whomever, not the few in the world but who or whomever sounds like everyones included to me ,shall ok shall sounds like free will to me, believeth help me Dr. Brown I may need a scholar here believeth could mean continue to believe shall not perish but have everlasting life.Well I should have said whomsoever, that sounds even more like freewill.Just because you are given something doessnt mean it doesnt come with rules. When buy your teen a dirtbike is he allowed to ride it in the house?God has given us all that we need to understand what is saying to us just stop being so deep and be thankful for the simplicity of the GOSPEL.God doesnt want us ignorant but obedient and wise, a wise man winneth souls.

I totally agree with you on the whole “trans-gender” kids thing. I was just wondering how do we explain people like the runner from Kenya who was born with both male and female parts? How is this person supposed to live? I am just curious myself. It’s like I know that God doesn’t make mistakes, but how can we explain this? Thanks for any insight you may have! :0)
